š Overview
Notifications is your activity feed for everything happening across your Structur account. Every time a proposal gets approved, a bid comes in, a task is assigned, or a subcontract is signed, a notification appears here so you always know what has changed and what needs your attention.
The Recent Activity feed is organized by date and shows every event in your account in chronological order. You can filter to see only unread notifications, mark everything as read in one click, and control exactly which events trigger a notification and how you receive them -- in the browser, by email, or as a push notification on your device.
Notification Preferences give you precise control over your notification experience. Every event category has individual toggles for Web, Email, and Push so you can tune your alerts to match how you work. A project manager might want email alerts for every proposal and change order but no push notifications. A field crew member might only need task assignment alerts. Everyone on your team configures their own preferences independently.
š Understanding Notifications
ā” What It Does
Notifications allows you and your team to:
See a live activity feed of everything happening across your account, organized by date
Filter by unread to focus only on notifications you have not seen yet
Mark all notifications as read in one click to clear your feed
Configure notification preferences per event type across Web, Email, and Push channels
Stay informed across 17 event categories including proposals, tasks, bids, subcontracts, change orders, invoices, and more
Control your own alert settings independently from the rest of your team
š When to Use It
Notifications is most valuable when you want to:
Check what has happened across your account since you last logged in
Catch up on approvals, submissions, and updates without opening every project individually
Tune your alerts so you only get notified about the events that matter to your role
Reduce email noise by turning off notifications for events you do not need to track closely
š Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Open Notifications
Click Notifications in the left sidebar
Your Recent Activity feed opens showing all notifications in reverse chronological order with date separators.
Note: The bell icon in the left sidebar shows a badge when you have unread notifications. Click it to go straight to your feed.
2. Browse Your Activity Feed
Notifications appear in chronological order grouped by date. Each notification shows the event type in bold (for example, Proposal Approved, Bid Submitted, Task Assigned), a description of what happened, and a timestamp of when it occurred.
Unread notifications show an orange dot on the left. Read notifications do not.
3. Filter Your Feed
Use the controls at the top of the feed to manage what you see: By Date (sorts notifications chronologically -- default view), Unread (filters to show only notifications you have not read yet), Unread Only toggle (when turned on, hides all read notifications so only unread ones are visible), and Mark All Read (marks every notification in your feed as read in one click).
4. Configure Your Notification Preferences
Click the gear icon in the top right of the Notifications page
The Notification Preferences panel opens on the right
Find the event category you want to adjust
For each event, toggle on or off the delivery channel you want: Web, Email, or Push
Close the panel when done -- preferences save automatically
Note: Notification Preferences are personal. Changes you make apply only to your account and do not affect your teammates' settings.

ā Best Practices
Configure preferences on day one -- take five minutes to set up your Notification Preferences when you first join so your inbox and email are not flooded with events you do not need.
Turn off Email for high-volume events -- events like Bid Package Sent or Daily Log Created can fire frequently. Turn off Email for those and keep Web-only so you see them in Structur without filling your inbox.
Keep Task Assigned and Task Overdue on -- these two events directly affect your work. Most users should keep both Web and Email on for these regardless of role.
Use Unread Only when catching up -- toggle Unread Only on at the start of the day to see only what is new since you last checked.
Use Mark All Read to reset your feed -- after reviewing your notifications, click Mark All Read to clear the count and start fresh.
Remember preferences are personal -- each team member sets their own notification preferences. If a teammate is not getting alerts they expect, they need to check their own settings.
ā Common Questions
Q: Can I turn off all notifications?
A: Yes. Open Notification Preferences and toggle off every event across all three channels. Keep in mind that turning off all notifications means you will need to check Structur manually to stay up to date.
Q: What is the difference between Web, Email, and Push notifications?
A: Web notifications appear in your Structur Notifications feed inside the app. Email notifications are sent to the email address on your account. Push notifications are sent to your mobile device if you have the Structur iOS app installed and notifications enabled.
Q: Do my notification preferences affect my teammates?
A: No. Notification Preferences are personal to your account. Each team member controls their own settings independently.
Q: Why am I not receiving email notifications for certain events?
A: Check your Notification Preferences by clicking the gear icon on the Notifications page. If the Email toggle is off for that event, turn it on. Also check your spam folder in case Structur emails are being filtered.
Q: Can I delete notifications from my feed?
A: Currently, notifications cannot be deleted individually. You can mark them all as read using Mark All Read to clear your unread count and clean up your view.
Q: How far back does the activity feed go?
A: The feed shows all notifications in your account history grouped by date. Scroll down to see older activity.
Q: I am getting too many notifications. How do I reduce them?
A: Open Notification Preferences and turn off Email or Push for the event categories that are generating the most noise. For high-volume events like bids or daily logs, keeping Web-only and turning off Email is a common approach.
ā ļø Common Mistakes to Avoid
ā Don't | ā Do |
Leave all notifications on default without reviewing preferences | Take a few minutes on day one to configure your preferences to match your role |
Turn on Email for every event type | Keep Email for high-priority events and use Web-only for high-volume ones |
Assume a teammate's notifications match yours | Remember each person controls their own preferences independently |
Scroll through a full feed looking for unread items | Use the Unread Only toggle to filter to just what you have not seen |
Ignore the gear icon | The gear icon is where you control everything about how and when you get notified |
