Overview
Structur doesn't currently have a built-in language setting within the platform. However, you can easily view the entire software in your preferred language, Spanish, French, German or any other by using the translation feature that's already built into your web browser.
Every major browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari) offers a way to automatically translate web pages. Once you enable it, Structur's menus, labels, buttons, and content will appear in your chosen language. This makes it much easier to work with the platform if English isn't your first language.
This guide walks you through enabling translation in each of the most popular browsers so you can start working in Structur in the language you're most comfortable with.
Understanding Browser Translation
What It Does
Your browser's translation feature allows you to:
Translate the entire Structur interface into your preferred language, including menus, buttons, labels, and on-screen text
Switch languages on the fly without logging out or changing any Structur settings
Set a preferred language so the browser automatically offers to translate every time you visit Structur
Revert to English at any time by turning the translation off in your browser
Translate any web-based application. This works for Structur and any other website you visit
When to Use It
Browser translation is most valuable when you need to:
Work in Structur and English isn't your primary language
Onboard a team member who is more comfortable in another language
Quickly switch between English and another language while working
Help field crews or subcontractors navigate the software in their preferred language
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Translate Structur in Google Chrome
Google Chrome has the most straightforward translation feature and is the recommended browser for Structur.
Option A - Translate a page on the spot:
Open Structur in Google Chrome
Right-click anywhere on the page
Select Translate to [your language] from the context menu
If your desired language isn't shown, click the translate icon in the address bar and select Choose another language
Pick your language (e.g., Spanish, French, German) and click Translate
Option B - Set your preferred language in Chrome Settings:
Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner of Chrome
Go to Settings
In the search bar at the top, type Translate
Under the Languages section, click Add languages
Select your preferred language (e.g., Spanish) and add it
Chrome will now offer to translate pages into that language automatically
Tip: Once you translate Structur once in Chrome, the browser often remembers your preference and offers to translate automatically on future visits.
2. Translate Structur in Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge uses the same translation engine as Chrome, so the experience is very similar.
Open Structur in Microsoft Edge
When the page loads, Edge may show a translation bar at the top of the page, click Translate to translate into your preferred language
If the bar doesn't appear, right-click anywhere on the page and select Translate to [your language]
To choose a different language, click the translate icon in the address bar, then select Translate page to and pick your language
To set your preferred language in Edge Settings:
Click the three-dot menu (⋯) in the top-right corner
Go to Settings → Languages
Click Add languages and select your preferred language
Toggle on Offer to translate pages that aren't in a language I read
3. Translate Structur in Mozilla Firefox
Firefox has built-in translation support (Firefox 118 and newer).
Open Structur in Firefox
Click the translate icon in the address bar (it looks like a small page with an "A" on it)
Select your target language from the dropdown
Click Translate
To set your preferred language in Firefox Settings:
Click the hamburger menu (☰) in the top-right corner
Go to Settings → General
Scroll down to the Language section
Under Translations, check the option to offer translations for pages that aren't in your preferred language
Note: If you're using Firefox version 117 or earlier, you'll need to update your browser to access the built-in translation feature. You can check your version by going to Help → About Firefox.
4. Translate Structur in Safari (Mac and iPhone/iPad)
Safari offers built-in translation on macOS and iOS.
On Mac:
Open Structur in Safari
Click the translate icon (Aa) in the address bar
Select Translate to [your language]
If your language isn't listed, go to System Settings → General → Language & Region and add your preferred language
On iPhone/iPad:
Open Structur in Safari
Tap the Aa button in the address bar
Tap Translate to [your language]
Note: Safari's supported translation languages are more limited than Chrome and Edge. If your language isn't available in Safari, we recommend using Google Chrome for the best translation experience.
Best Practices
Use Google Chrome for the best translation experience – Chrome has the widest language support and the most accurate translations of all major browsers. It's also Structur's recommended browser.
Set your preferred language in browser settings – Instead of manually translating each time, configure your language preference so the browser offers automatic translation whenever you visit Structur.
Keep English available as a reference – If you're unsure about a translated label or menu item, you can toggle translation off temporarily to see the original English text and confirm what you're looking at.
Translate before starting work, not mid-task – Enable translation before you begin working in Structur for the session. Translating mid-task can sometimes cause the page to refresh or reset your current view.
Share these instructions with your team – If you have team members who would benefit from using Structur in another language, send them this article so they can set it up on their own device.
Update your browser regularly – Translation features improve with browser updates. Make sure you're running the latest version of your browser for the best experience.
Common Questions
Q: Does Structur have a built-in language setting?
A: Currently, Structur doesn't have an in-app option to change the language. However, you can achieve the same result by using your browser's built-in translation feature, which translates the entire interface into your preferred language. A native language setting is on the Structur roadmap.
Q: Will translating the page break anything in Structur?
A: No. Browser translation only changes the visible text on your screen — it doesn't modify any data, forms, or entries you make. Everything you type or submit will be saved exactly as you entered it, regardless of what language the page is displayed in.
Q: What languages are supported?
A: This depends on your browser. Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge support over 100 languages. Firefox supports a growing list of languages. Safari's selection is more limited. For the widest language support, use Google Chrome.
Q: Can I switch back to English after translating?
A: Yes. Click the translate icon in your browser's address bar and select Show original or turn off translation. The page will revert to English immediately.
Q: Does the translation affect what other people on my team see?
A: No. Browser translation only applies to your screen on your device. It doesn't change anything for other users. Each person can set their own language independently.
Q: I don't see the translate option in my browser. What should I do?
A: First, make sure your browser is up to date. In Chrome, go to Settings → About Chrome to check for updates. In Firefox, go to Help → About Firefox. If you still don't see the option, try right-clicking anywhere on the page, most browsers offer a "Translate" option in the right-click menu.
Q: Which browser do you recommend for translation?
A: Google Chrome. It offers the broadest language support, the most accurate translations, and the simplest setup process. It's also the recommended browser for using Structur overall.
